When Midnight Special leaves the Promenade at the end of the year, it will take with it any reason to visit this Universal-Citywalk-by-the-beach. During the ten years the progressive, independent bookstore has been there, the ped-only street has exploded into a corporate carnival, leaving little alternative to neon-laden, cookie-cutter stores and fast food. No word yet where the bookstore will land, but check out their website and buy independent!
