In Portland, Oregon on Thursday, W was met with a massive demonstration which focused attention on his war-mongering, his attacks on civil liberties, and his anti-labor and anti-environmental policies. The Portland Police seized the moment to show how cherished the rights of free speech and peaceful assembly are in George W. Bush's America, by brutally attacking the demonstrators. Another demonstration met Bush in Northern California on Friday.
By Friday afternoon Shrub was in SoCal to raise right-wing $ for the slim and shady Republican Gubinatorial candidate Bill Simon. And wherever he went, plutocracy was on the inside protected by the paramilitary security apparatus, but the voices of democracy and social justice were outside, in the streets.
