On Saturday Night December 14, 2002
upwards of 2002 demonstrators held a vigil/rally at the very epicenter of Southern California's Tourist Industry -- the intersection of Hollywood and Highland (down the street from Grauman's Chinese Theater, in front of the new Kodak Corporate Kitsch Mall where they hold the Academy Awards Ceremony). Tens of thousands of automobilies passed the anti-war event in the course of two-hours-plus; the entire time there was a soaring chorus of solidarity car horns a-honking. What started out as a vigil became a celebration of the growing anti-war movement -- and by the end of the evening I think everyone there began to feel if the response of the passers-by was any indication, we in the anti-war movement should keep our spirits up: WE CAN STOP THIS WAR!
