Washington and its NATO imperialist allies are preparing another bloody escalation of the war against Syria. On Sept. 8, U.S. warplanes reportedly struck the tow of Hajin in Deir Ez-Zor province with banned white phosphorous weapons.
We say NO! Poor and working people in this country need real jobs at living wages, money for housing, healthcare and education, and an end to racist police brutality, ICE deportations and separation of migrant families -- not war against the people of Syria!
As Syria and its allies move to liberate Idlib province, one of the last holdouts of Western-backed terrorist groups, Washington and the corporate media are again claiming the government of Syrian President Assad plans to use chemical weapons against civilians. This same false claim has been used again and again, under both Republican and Democratic administrations, to prolong U.S. intervention in Syria. Trump has already used this hoax to bomb Syria twice before.
UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has repeatedly warned of “dire consequences” for Syria. Trump’s National Security Advisor John Bolton has threatened a “much stronger” military assault. Bolton is in talks with Britain, France and other NATO powers to coordinate an attack on Syria.
But Syria long ago eliminated all its chemical weapons under international supervision. U.S.-backed contra armies, on the other hand, have both the capacity and the motive to employ chemical weapons to justify continued Western intervention.
The war in Syria has created hundreds of thousands of refugees. This humanitarian crisis is being used by white supremacists in Europe to demonize immigrants and refugees, just as the Trump regime scapegoats migrants and refugees fleeing U.S.-backed wars and economic catastrophe in Latin America.
The war in Syria is also closely tied up with Corporate America’s plans for more wars for profit around the world. Trump wants to target Iran, one of Syria's allies. Democratic Party leaders and "mainstream" Republicans want to target Russia, another ally of Syria. They all agree that Syria is the place to further their pro-war agenda
A wider war, whether in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa or Latin America, will only bring more death and destruction to poor and working people abroad, and more hardship and suffering to poor and working people here at home, who are always expected to pay the bill for Wall Street's wars for profit and domination.
