screenshot_2015-09-14-17-13-09-1.png, image/png, 309x313 Black Lantern Books proudly presents a rare and timely conversation between two titans of political and cultural resistance: Malik Rahim, legendary organizer and former chair of the New Orleans Black Panther Party, and Carl Lumbly, acclaimed actor and cultural icon.

Malik Rahim – Longtime organizer, activist, and subject of the new book A Southern Panther: Conversations With Malik Rahim (Legacy Left/AK Press). His decades of work defending public housing, freeing political prisoners, and rebuilding post-Katrina New Orleans highlight a life of unwavering movement commitment.

Carl Lumbly – Acclaimed actor known for his powerful and diverse body of work across film, television, and theatre. Currently featured as Isiah Bradley in Captain America: Brave New World, Lumbly brings a lifetime of storytelling and social depth to the conversation.

This event offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the legacies of radical organizing and cultural resistance through the lens of intercommunalism, the Black liberation movement, and the arts. As today’s social movements continue to evolve, voices like Rahim and Lumbly provide grounding, inspiration, and hard-won wisdom for the road ahead.
