"Tax the Rich! Tax the Rich! Tax the Rich!"

Although the Americana is private property, the lawn in the center is public. A Tesla dealership is just across the "street" from it. No less than 50 protesters showed up for two hours on March 22. According to the organizer, the weekly demonstration has been going on since February and started out with only two participants.

The many chants included one that has recently been shouted at Republican town halls: "Tax the rich! Tax the rich! Tax the rich!" (see video below). Others included, "Hay-hay! Ho-ho! Elon Musk has got to go!" and "Boycott Tesla!"

Many of the passing Saturday shoppers took an interest in the demonstration. Seeing protesters appeared to be a novelty for some. Others acted very happy to see us and sometimes even joined in. People aboard a passing "early 20th-century" street car waved. Other passersby seemed indifferent, while others expressed disapproval.

Other weekly anti-Musk protests include ones at Tesla dealerships in Pasadena (300 were said to have been there this weekend) and Burbank (also very well-attended).
