text Pacifica voting in secret with no accountability? Is this part of KPFK ? kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-04-18 10:39 PM
Counterpunch is now publishing wrong info ? Who gave them that information about Pacifica? How confusing. Another commentator disclosed here at Indymedia how Pacifica Nat'l Bd voted to deselect the hired Exe Director. But the numbers and facts never add up correctly. Nor can results be explained and no names of voters are named. And KPFK's Local Station Board meetings have a fight club mentality and provides no factual helpful information either. Ask their LSB for more accurate info here: lsbchair@kpfk.org (text/plain + 4 comments)

Members of Bundy Family Explain Bundy Ranch Stand-Off With Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
In April 2014, the Bureau of Land Management acted on a court order to seize the cattle of southern Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy. Hundreds of western men and women traveled to the area outside Bunkersville, NV to stand with Cliven Bundy against federal tyranny. Several reporters from Los Angeles People's Media went to the site of the #BundyRanch #RangeWar to interview the members of the Bundy family about the stand-off. (image/jpeg + 4 comments)

For the 15th year marking International Women’s Day in Southern California, on March 8th a warm and sunny Saturday, a mixed race and enthusiastic crowd of approximately 450 women, men, quite a lot of young people, and lots of children gathered for a free concert and speakout at the MacArthur Park Band Shell in Los Angeles. text Pacifica Exe Director position is in confusion still putting KPFK at risk transmittor 2014-04-10 10:52 PM
Pacifica is in broken shape, in at least two separate pieces: The Executive Directorship is allocated to 2 people by at least 2 groups. One is Summer Reese, [ a long time PNB chair and member, and she was contractually hired after many months working as interim ED ] and the other is Bernard Duncan, former KPFK general manager [ who claimed to be going to NZ to be with his girlfriend and he left his KPFK position months before his contract was up.] (text/plain + 3 comments)

text Bernard Duncan, prior GM of KPFK is still in play kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-04-09 12:01 AM
Strange sightings are occurring…here in LA we have been told that the recent Gen’l Mgr of KPFK had resigned months before his contract was up in June, and left the station in March 2014 instead, with the KPFA Berkeley manager coming in as interim manager here. Now Bernard Duncan’s name has reappeared in some other suspicious circumstances that most of those who are KPFK sponsors/ subscribers/ members/ payers Do Not Understand, and Have Not Been Informed…at all ! Why is there no local transparency or an LA Town Hall meeting to explain, to hear and ask questions - and even if answers are not accurate or easy, for there to be available Discussion, Exposure, Information -vs silence and secrecy – yes, here where KPFK still exists and plays on air ...as if nothing else were going on behind some closed hallowed doors - secretly....unknown to us. We have no say, of course, no power, no input, no nutin but pay and wonder and worry. who are the players here and what are they doing ? in secret alliances ? (text/plain + 3 comments)

text Pacifica board members named here, who attempted ousting ED kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-04-04 8:06 PM
Pacifica conflict over who is Executive Director continues in it's non-wisdom and contenders vying for power and position. Here are excerpts of some updated info and names the PNB members who voted 12- to - 10 to 'fire' the one most recently hired. Some of these KPFK - LSB members who only very recently were elevated to PNB are included in the ousting, outing of Summer Reese. 3 of our 4 voted by phone to expel her. We need to hold all our LSB and PNB [acting as non-] representatives accountable for their actions, and not for their own personal opinions - - unless those interfere and overtake their responsibility to all us KPFK subscribers/ sponsors/ payers/ members. text LA Weekly promotes a slanted view of Pacifica/ KPFK activistMediaWatcher 2014-04-04 5:36 PM
LA Weekly produced an article about Pacifica, which involves KPFK of course, that was apparently biased and the writer maybe even was a prior student of Cooper whom he liked to quote as if an "expert" but may not at all be so. The letters written to LA Weekly were on line and in print 2 more times to display the local concerns. This Open letter to their Editor is to respond to all 3 of those print-postings. text More Info about Pacifica, which holds KPFK's license, etc. KPFK loyal volunteer 2014-04-03 9:08 PM
– More than is visible in any informative[vs. those preferring to attack] LA medium . So here are some reposts - parts of what is on URL that appears to be about KPFA in Berkeley but that also affects all PACIFICA FDTN stations equally. The confusion, conflict about the Exe Director Reese has opened up the box and more info is being revealed, finally ! These links and information is intended to be Shared, Exposed, Discussed, and later Resolved too. Not to set up more conflicts or malicious actions, please ! (text/plain)

text Listen to KPFK's staff talking to Pacifica Exe Director kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-03-30 2:31 AM
Listen to a KPFK interview with Summer Reese a few nights ago, produced and interview by Roy Tuckman and Eben Rey, available on Soundcloud. Interesting to have direct verbal vocal information instead of so many other internet shades of grease that proliferate in trying to form stories and gossip and biased versions of what happened to whom. The direct person involved in the personnel issues of Pacifica are discussed here. KPFK listeners called in and added opinions also. Can the whole organization be saved and healed and repaired so it will not repeat [and again and again] ??? (text/plain + 16 comments)

text Pacifica IS also KPFK, so let's not ignore what going on kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-03-30 12:42 AM
Pacifica is struggling with who is it's new Executive Director with much dramatic flurries, acting outs, resistances, alliances, and stories barely coming out, even on internet. A few reports of happenings is being sent out to the 'rest of us' by Tracy Rosenberg, a former termed out PNB member. We here in LA are playing dumb and treated as if we were even dumber...muted actually. see her site for other stories and commentators too. (text/plain + 5 comments)

text Reported excerpts of Pacifica's - and that's KPFK's - incidents happening - update kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-03-30 12:14 AM
Tracy Rosenberg has been updating information in a reporter's fashion with what is occurring...tho far from LA, still relevant to our own KPFK, however it falls Out or sideways. The Pacifica Nat'l Bd [PNB] and Pacifica's attorney and others star in the more recent incidents. Excerpts that may interest local LAers is here. See Tracys facebook site in future for updates as they show up. [why Indymedia is glumping all paragraphs together is not resolvable by this writer, so please glimpse for key words or parts that Can Be Read if possible. This glitch seems to occur when spacing well is in the article written but does not come out in final results here. sorry for that. See Facebook link for more info anyhow. ] (text/html + 1 comment)

text Forever intertwined: KPFK, WBAI, Gary Null ? KPFK questionner 2014-03-28 11:10 PM
A post copied from Wikipedia re Gary Null, long a premium contributor to KPFK. Confirmation of what is factual and what is assume should always be done but that takes more dedicated work. Meanwhile this is of interest to KPFK listeners in Los Angeles because Gary has been on air here for so many years, loved, disliked, distrusted, adored and purchased by many here thru KPFK's audio weekly. Add or change this with comments if you know more actualities. No slamming please ! (text/plain)

text Why is KPFK still failing to thrive ? kpfk loyal volunteer 2014-03-28 10:32 PM
KPFK is more than intimately tied to it's umbrella leader Pacifica, whose latest Executive Director has been 'fired' by some of questionable authority and who refuses to accept the factionalization that predominates these radio stations operations. But no actual factual information is ever available, not locally from KPFK or most other sites on line. Mostly the usual malicious attacking anyone else blurbs are found online. Why do we who pay dearly to subscribe, to be members, to sponsor KPFK programs [tho we may not chose to pay for all pgrms presented there, if given any free choices ] . We, outside the sacred halls of radio station know NOTHING from our local sources of KPFK or Pacifica 'news' and information Finally 1 site just went up, see below. Just recently a new site went up that allows no comments but is intended to take a side in the national malicious arguments on line about who runs the Pacifica PNB [nat’l board] and petitions are included therein. see http://2014.supportkpfa.org and also maybe tour thru facebook https://www.facebook.com/notes/tracy-rosenberg/turning-off-the-water-and-firing-the-lawyer/10201760444914193 to learn a bit more about what is dramatically occurring in Pacifica’s Berkley offices. To search out what may be factual or actual from what are marketing-promotional or negative-attack-ads blurbs takes hours of time and reading and is uncompensated ‘work’ just to know where even our KPFK dollars are being spent or set up to be wasted. And other than a midnight interview that was not heard by the great majority of KPFK listeners gave a hint of what is happening to Pacific, about it’s Executive Director, and the future of the whole set of radio stations affiliated and dependent on some structure that is stable and honest…if possible. audio Pacifica Radio, Rwanda, and DR Congo KPFK/audio archive, KPFA's Ann Garrison/text 2014-03-26 9:29 PM
As the stand-off at the Pacifica Radio Foundation offices in Berkeley continues, I have to ask myself why Pacifica matters. Is it worth such a constant struggle? One reason I answer yes is the truth that makes its way onto Pacifica airwaves about Rwanda, DR Congo, the whole Great Lakes Region of Africa, and the US/Pentagon responsibility for the most lethal conflict since World War II. News reports about this are not consistent across the network, or across the broadcasts of different stations, but some of Pacifica's reporting on this fulfills its oft repeated claim to bring you news that no one else will. This is one example: the voice of Keith Harmon Snow, included in this 02.12.2014 KPFK report, is heard on RT and Press TV, but certainly not on NPR, or any major TV network outlet in the U.S. or Canada. text Home-less-free occupying is not a free ride either living insider 2014-03-25 3:46 AM
Another article written on LA Indy was full of comments that derided the author as if that answered the question of how the everywhere-living-homeless in LA have used up what were spaces intended for the general public - for children, for athletes, for elderly, for the tired, the disabled, the visitors. And no blame is made but the reality is noted and forthrightly stated. No PC necessary. No attack the writer is needed. No solutions are available, apparently. (text/plain + 10 comments)

text RENT may not be Controlled in LA City soon...watch out ! renter forever 2014-03-04 5:16 PM
Rent Control may be diluted and rents increased if CC Parks get's his strange way. He often acts as a dissenter but this time [maybe again] it is AGAINST the Renters of his city of LA. Ex-police chief wants to gouge renters so they pay for landowners' expenses for earthquake prevention, that should already be paid thru yearly Rental Increases every single year, regardless of individual improvements made on apartments. UNIFY and LEARN MORE to not allow this proposal to City Council to gain any momentum.
