Municipal Code 41.18 (d) remains an easy way for police to criminalize homeless individuals and make their lives more difficult than they already are, resulting in the U.S. 9th Circuit Court to rule in their "Jones vs. City of L.A." case that this code violates the U.S. Constitution's 8th Amendment (No cruel and unusual punishment). Certain officers issue citations to people arbitrarily without providing ANY time for individuals to comply.

Herman Wallace of the Angola 3 has been transferred out of solitary confinement, as Louisiana’s Hunt prison reduced his classification from maximum to medium security. Herman is now staying at the prison hospital in a 10-bunk dorm, with access to a day room, and does not have to wear leg irons anymore. While celebrating the more human conditions, Herman and the International Coalition to Free the Angola 3 emphasize that the transfer from solitary is not enough. They are asking folks to continue supporting Amnesty International’s call for humane release. (image/jpeg)

Youth organizations from Los Angeles and Orange County are participating in the World Peace Youth Walk in Hollywood. The march is hosted by the International Peace Youth Group for World Peace and Restoration, Los Angeles branch and is a part of a global movement of peace rallies held around the world today by over 120 youth organizations. The start of the movement began on May 25, 2013 in Seoul, South Korea which gathered over 27,000 youth to rally for peace and hear the Declaration of Peace. (image/jpeg + 2 comments)
