More than 20,000 protestors converged about 6 p.m. last Nov. 8 at Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards in Silver Lake near the site of the former Black Cat bar, which the city recently designated a historic-cultural monument for its '60s role as home of the local gay rights movement. Thousands of people over the past few days have come out in the streets of Los Angeles and other cities to protest the passage of Prop. 8 This is the militant response to the well-funded right-wing campaign of bigotry trying to push millions of LGBT people back into the closet The march's organizers, the L.A. Coalition for Equal Marriage Rights and the Answer Coalition closed Sunset between Fountain and Sanborn avenues for about two hours as marchers moved west on Santa Monica, north on Vermont Avenue, then east on Hollywood Boulevard back to Silver Lake. Later a smaller group headed toward Hollywood. The Silver Lake rally began with fiery speeches from the bed of the ANSWER-LA truck. AJLPP ,Pro people Youth(KmB),Pesante-USA and JFAV activist were active at the rally and march flying the Filipino flag..

More than 15,000 immigrants and advocates militantly but peacefully marched last Sunday, June 24 in Hollywood to express their sentiments on the ongoing immigrant rights bill in the U.S Congress. Despite the anti-Minutemen rally in south central LA earlier Saturday, threats of ICE raids against immigrants, the oppressive heat and the watchful presence of hundreds of police and county deputies, the more than an hour immigrant rights march occupied more than six blocks from Sunset Street to the rally site at Highland Street in Los Angeles. The April 7 Coalition that led the more than 50,000 mobilization in Los Angeles includes the Latino Movement USA, Hermanidad Mexican National, the ANSWER Coalition and the Coalition in Defense of immigrant Rights (CDIR) and People’s CORE, Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC), UTLA and COFEM led this march rally. Marching from the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Edgecliffe to a rally on Sunset Junction at Santa Monica Blvd. The event was organized by a coalition of group including the LAMBDA Legal Defense and Education Fund, The California Freedom to Marry Coalition, The L.A. Coalition for Equal Marriage Rights, and ANSWER LA . The event was peaceful and there were no arrests.
