How foreign policy elites are losing contact with their citizens (tags)
In addition to the destruction of two countries, trillions of squandered dollars, a massive refugee crisis, a new generation of U.S. war veterans in need of lifelong assistance, and countless dead as well as wounded, these "elites" are largely responsible for the distrust.

Christian Zionists Encourage Military-Industrial Complex Never Ending War (tags)
The Zionists in Israel and the U.S. (Christian Zionists) are encouraging the proliferation of the military-industrial complex with their escalation of religious warfare against the occupied Palestinians. The AIPAC lobby and military weapons contractors give campaign contributions to both Democrats and Republicans, making both status quo political parties of the U.S. puppets of greedy individuals bent on never ending warfare with soldiers and civilians paying the ultimate price with their lives.

The Debt Ceiling: Where Are the Grownups? (tags)
The fact that the ruling elites haven't stepped in and forced the President and Congress to raise the debt ceiling, the way they did in October 2008 to push through the TARP big-bank bailout, suggests either that the corporate ruling class likes the "shock treatment" agenda being pushed by the Tea Party -- force a default on U.S. debt so the President and Congress will have to eliminate the welfare state virtually overnight -- or that the Tea Party has become the ruling class's Frankenstein, a monster it can no longer control.

In the Streets for Human Rights: A People Without Borders (tags)
The recent immigrant rights demonstration in San Diego May 1 was inspiring, but a real solution to the immigration question will come only when we can disenthrall the American people from hateful corporate propaganda that pits disadvantaged groups against each other and convinces millions of Americans that their economic and social problems are caused by people below them, not people above. So-called “illegal” immigrants are just another in the long line of scapegoats corporate and Right-wing propagandists invoke to keep people confused and lead them to challenge each other instead of their corporate overlords.
Next Supreme Court Justice to Solidify Right Wing, Neoliberal Control (tags)
Obama likely to shift the court more to the right
bio of a liar
The economy elected Barack Obama President, and it will make or break his administration. Right now it seems likely to break it, as Obama's announced appointees to staff his government come almost exclusively from the moderate administration of Bill Clinton, thereby assuring the ruling class that "change you can believe in" means "change the rich and powerful won't have to worry about." Without a mass Left movement on the order of the socialists and communists who in the 1930's pushed Franklin Roosevelt to the Left, Obama's Presidency is likely to be yet another suck-up to corporate America and its anti-labor, anti-environment, anti-worker "free trade" agenda.

Turning the Tables on the Israel-Firsters (tags)
Zionism's last gasp is due. Jewish groups are springing up throughout the world which are challenging Zionism's dominance in foreign affairs, and refuting the lie that Zionism's organizations speak for the majority of Jews, who reject Zionism.
The publication of the new NIE represented a Declaration of Independence of professional secret service analysist who were made absolute fools by the neoconservatives in the past decades. Journalist Saul Landau described the new NIE as Bush's Watergate.

Neocon Chickenhawks: A Small Tightly-Knit Clan Part 2 (tags)
This list of intricate, overlapping connections is hardly exhaustive or perhaps even surprising. But it helps reveal an important fact. Contrary to appearances, the neocons do not constitute a powerful mass political movement. They are instead a small, tightly-knit clan whose incestuous familial and personal connections, both within and outside the Bush administration, have allowed them grab control of the future of American foreign policy.
Even before the bombs fell on Baghdad, a group of senior Pentagon officials were plotting to invade another country. Their covert campaign once again relied on false intelligence and shady allies. But this time, the target was Iran.

The Neo-Con Assault on Art (tags)
When the neo-cons attack civil rights, the poor, immigrants, gays - and wages war around the world, the "left" has a lot to say. But when the right attacks the arts, there is a deadening silence. Neocon Goldberg Mocks Victims of Katrina (tags)
While New Orleans was reeling from the first deadly effects of “Hurricane Katrina,” Neocon Jonah Goldberg mocked the idea of placing some of the city’s refugees in the Superdome. This is the same warmonger who once wrote that the U.S. should “bomb Canada!” When France refused to go along with the Bush-Cheney Gang’s scheme to invade Iraq, he smeared the French people as a nation of “liars,” who were only interested in a “desire for oil.”

What's Behind the Attacks on the RCP and What's at Stake (tags)
On September 27, 2001, only 16 days after the 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center, the Washington Times ran an article entitled "Communists, Go Home." Ostensibly in response to a long-planned Washington mobilization against the World Bank and International Monetary Fund by forces in the anti- globalization movement, this article was a very clear call to put communists in the government's crosshairs immediately after 9/11.

Soldiering is for others (tags)
And who is to do it? Certainly not the neoconservatives. They use such terms as moral clarity and the need to project our power — but it is to be done with someone else’s body. A conversation I had with a budding neocon reveals their version of moral clarity. Who was included when he said ‘we’. He looked at me as if I were a bit dense and said, ‘We, the United States.’ ‘Does that mean you?’ I asked. ‘No,’ he replied, ‘the guys in the army.'
A Vast Right-Wing Cry of Treason (tags)
Ann Coulter, the right wing's dial-900 girl—a rail-thin, chain-smoking, hard-drinking, big-eyed leggy blonde who winkingly serves up X-rated ideological smut on liberals—is at it again. "Whenever the nation is under attack, from within or without, liberals side with the enemy," Coulter writes—or sneers—in Treason, her follow-up effort to the best-selling Slander. Like its predecessor, Treason sits atop the best-seller charts, riding higher than one of Coulter's signature miniskirts.
Leftist Starving the Poor (a la Mao) (tags)
Science offers the poor bread. . . the left offers a circus. Continuing in its grand tradition of starving the poor to death. . . the left opposes advances in food sciences!
Apparently the more natural function of public intellectuals, at least most of them, is to explain the ways of power to the uninformed and perhaps unthinking public at large ? or in more cynical terms, to serve as apologists for those in power. In the wake of a certain amount of criticism of the Bush administration over the issues of "weapons of mass destruction" ? a misnomer from the get-go in that it lumps nuclear weapons with chemical and biological weapons that are difficult to use tactically and create less actual mass destruction than some artillery barrages ? Bush apologists are coming out of the woodwork.
"On June 3, the columnist Ann Coulter addressed a Republican women’s club in Jacksonville, Florida (see Anthony Gancarski, "An Evening with Ann Coulter"). In the course of her diatribe ... Coulter proclaimed that the Middle East is now 'George Bush’s bitch.' 'Bitch' in this sense is prison talk for the victim of homosexual rape.

NEOCONS GO WILD OVER SPREAD OF CLEAN BREAK EXPOSE. (tags)
With allegations of ``conflict of interest,'' and possible ``blackmail'' of U.S. allies in Saudi Arabia hitting Richard Perle, the head of the chickenhawk-loaded Defense Policy Board, the neo-conservative hatchetmen in the press are trying to stop the exposes about ``Clean Break,'' the 1996 policy paper that Perle wrote for Benjamin Netanyahu, that mapped out war against Iraq, Syria, and Iran, and abrogating the Oslo Accords.
Usual suspects are behind anti-war protests (tags)
The sponsor of the New York rally was the umbrella group United for Peace and Justice, which can be described as the crazy far-left on its best behavior. he stench arising from the organizers attracts zero interest in the mainstream press. Writing in National Review, Byron Scott called it "the story no one wants to hear about the anti-war movement." If anti-war demonstrations were being organized by a tobacco company or the Augusta National Golf Club, the liberal establishment would erupt in screams of protest. No screaming now, though. These sponsors are just off-the-wall loonies and Stalinist front groups.
National Review Magazine drops a steaming turd (tags)
A classic example of the compelling propaganda of the right wing, is found in this excellent piece from National Review Magazine. A real tear jerker as an Iraqi civilian begs to be saved from Saddam, and the right wing, good hearted things that they are, agree to slash welfare and food stamps to raise the 80 billion required to save them. Real classic stuff. Could even split the left if anyone is stupid enough to forget that Saddam was another one of their clients, but perhaps this is a sign that the right wing has reformed their ways.
