A staff member, Ian Masters, who hosts a regular newsworthy program 6 days/week [and also has a public forum at the Hammer musem too which promotes KPFK by ] , has written a clear letter indicating his concerns . He wrote a truthful explanation of what is happening to programming and what he said about this also on-air, and has been duly threatened. Anyone concerned over such unreasonable acts at Our Radio Stattion should write to the current new GM at KPFK.org and state your views, concerns, and or willingness to continue pledging $$$.... or not. Some of these KPFK - LSB members who only very recently were elevated to PNB are included in the ousting, outing of Summer Reese. 3 of our 4 voted by phone to expel her. We need to hold all our LSB and PNB [acting as non-] representatives accountable for their actions, and not for their own personal opinions - - unless those interfere and overtake their responsibility to all us KPFK subscribers/ sponsors/ payers/ members.

Top-heavy, hugely expensive, conflict-ridden and racially polarized, this five-year old Board system was instituted to assure greater democracy and prevent the corporatization of Pacifica. The Former Senior Government Officials (FSGO) issued a statement Saturday night, hitting President Arroyo’s "abuse" of her appointing powers. The FSGO is a group of around 100 former senior officials, from the Marcos government to the Arroyo administration, advocating good governance. The officials also alleged that Arroyo’s record on appointing officials not based on competence and merit is even worse than the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

At the national level, the process of electing a president, or representatives and senators has become so expensive that only the wealthy or candidates supported by them can play. The process has been co-opted and corrupted by increasingly concentrated ownership of media and business, including banking, transportation, manufacturing, and energy. Legislative programs and goals largely focus on catering to the large organizations and the wealthy contributors. Our system was designed to work on a basis of majority rule, but effective control by a shrinking pool of elitists who also control both parties through contributions, has led to a situation in which not even the majority, albeit often invoked for political discussion, can decide any important issue.
