At the Commission meeting, activists spoke out against the police tactics used during "Retaliatory Monday" but in the end, did it matter, as the city of Riverside exonerated an officer who assigned a supervisor to investigate himself, saying that it was legal, justified and proper. Misconduct thus continues to be excused by the city, and its agencies.

After learning that an officer was assigned to investigate officers including himself, concerning "Retaliatory Monday," I stepped further inside the looking glass, and learned that the old adage about police departments is true: You can be assigned to investigate yourself, and nary an eyebrow will be raised, even when you decide that a police crackdown of a protest covered by print and television media, never happened at all.
