march for justice for donovan jackson/stop police brutality! noon, friday, 1/2, century & freeman, inglewood. the re-trial of officer jeremy morse begins monday, 1/5-- tho it's getting no coverage. morse was videotaped last summer beating 16 yr old donovan jackson, who was unarmed, handcuffed & unconscious--and had committed no crime. district atty steve cooley (ex-cop & republican) allowed the defense to remove every black juror, refused to call the videotaping witness to testify, refused to speak on morse's prior abuses, called an 'expert' witness on 'use of force' from w/in the dept, who told the jury he himself had 'done worse', & called no witness at all against morse's partner, who was charged w/ falsifying the report. the jury found 7-5 to convict-- a hung jury & mistrial. community pressure forced a new trial-- but only mass community awareness will keep it honest. we are marching thru inglewood to the d.a.'s office to bring attention to the case. please join us & spread the word! p.s. morse was arrested for driving drunk over thanksgiving in el segundo...
