Global Warming Accelerates While US Backpedals (tags)
Two recent studies have shocked the world in regard to global warming. A phenomenon that was to happen “possibly in our lifetime” has evolved into a threat capable of transforming the world in ten years time. A recent, extensive study of the northern polar ice caps released by climate expert Professor Peter Wadham, concluded that the Arctic Ocean would be “mostly” ice free in 10 years during the summer months. This study is a stunning compliment to research done by NASA at the South Pole, which noted that ice sheets have been losing 30 feet a year in thickness since 2003. The research concluded that the rate of melting is accelerating, creating a “runaway effect.”
Stick a Fork in Global Warming (tags)
Research conducted from the mid 90s to 2005 by a team from the University of East Anglia shows that the North Atlantic Ocean is only absorbing half of the CO2 that it used to.(1) Another research project from the same University published in May, 2007 found that the southern oceans are no longer absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. But to make things worse, they are starting to release it back into the air.(2)
Arctic Ice Shrinking AND Thinning - Reports (tags)
A research team from the National Snow and Ice Data Center, part of the University of Colorado at Boulder published their report of the annual 'Arctic Ice Minimum' last week which tells the extent of the summer melting. It broke the previous record set in '05, but it did so by a huge margin. The area that melted this year is 26% more than the '05 record.

The Arctic ice is melting at an accelerating pace, with this year already showing record retreat. There is still a month or so left of summer heating, but the record minimum ice melt has already been reached. The British Antarctic Survey team studying 300 glaciers found that they are flowing into the sea at a faster pace than scientists have ever seen. As the glaciers melting is accelerated, the melt water contributes to the faster movement.
NASA - Greenland Ice Melting at Increasing Rate (tags)
NASA released two reports today on climate change. A research team has been in Greenland measuring the ice sheet and glaciers for three weeks with new laser and radar equipment. They say that "Greenland has experienced a significant loss of ice." " ...the ice sheet and glaciers have been melting at an increasing rate over the past several years."

A team of Researchers from the British Antarctic Survey has published their research into CO2 and the oceans Friday in the journal Science. They have found that the southern oceans are no longer absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. But to make things worse, they are starting to release it back into the air.
