Unlike the lies and omissions of the mainstream media, the Left, in general, is good at telling the truth about Israel's oppression of the Palestinians. But the Left's unwillingness to accept the Israel lobby's role, as one of the most significant obstacles to justice for the Palestinians, in shaping U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East helps to maintain that very policy. Certain Leftists (like Noam Chomsky or Stephen Zunes) actually function as Israel lobby APOLOGISTS and, in that sense, in effect, back door Zionists. It's okay for them to criticize Gentiles who organize (e.g., "Christian Zionists" or Gentiles in the ruling class) for their responsibility in perpetuating the oppression of the Palestinians, but to criticize Zionist Jews (including Jewish neocons) who organize for the same purpose is considered taboo, and for that even some Leftist authorities will label others as "anti-Semitic" – or (as Zunes alternately says) as “_thinking_ like an anti-Semite.” In the past, one used to be labeled “anti-Semitic” for criticizing the state of Israel at all; now, some still call others “anti-Semitic” for criticizing the Israel lobby. Now that Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer have broken the taboo in the mainstream American media establishment of not only pointing out that the Israel lobby exists, but actually analyzing it from their perspective, the only place that open discussion, analysis and debate about the lobby remain firmly taboo is, ironically, ON THE LEFT! It’s a taboo imposed on the left by certain leftist icons and their suppression – if not censorship – of free expression and debate on this topic in progressive venues (lectures, panels, press or broadcast). Even some Palestinian-Americans have been forced to knuckle under to these leftist icons’ denial of the power of the Israel lobby in exchange for those icons’ or certain progressive/leftist groups’ political support. For example, as of this writing, where is an informed rebuttal to Noam Chomsky's dismissive position on the Lobby or at least an honest, open debate about the lobby on the national radio program Democracy Now? So, I wanted to incisively debunk at least some of the major arguments used by certain Left icons in denying the power and influence of the Israel lobby in U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and in suppressing discussion of its power domestically. Now, some people will bring up a red herring list of other possible influences in U.S. Mideast foreign policy to deny my analysis, but here I am dealing with THE ISRAEL LOBBY and how leftist icons respond to that topic. Kerry Indicates He Would Continue Bush’s Pro-Sharon Policy (tags)
Abraham Foxman, the Anti-Defamation League’s national director, who was present at a recent meeting in New York City between Kerry and 40 Jewish leaders, reported that Kerry laid "to rest a nagging concern - that relentless Democratic criticism of Bush’s foreign policy implied criticism of Bush’s closeness to Israel." This is according to Ron Kampeas in a column published in The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles. The article further quotes Foxman as saying that Kerry "tried to exempt Israel from the [Democrat's] critique of Bush’s foreign policy." According to Kampeas, Foxman characterized Kerry as "agree[ing] with administration policy on isolating Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, [and] supporting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan for unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and on the security fence."

Kerry’s Support of Iraq Invasion & Bush Doctrine Still Unexplained (tags)
Back in October 2002, when Senator Kerry voted to grant President Bush a blank check to make war, he tried to scare the American public into thinking that such an invasion was essential to the defense of the United States. Despite a lack of credible evidence, Kerry categorically declared that “Iraq has chemical and biological weapons” and even claimed that most elements of Iraq’s chemical and biological weapons programs were “larger and more advanced than they were before the Gulf War.” Furthermore, Kerry asserted that Iraq was “attempting to develop nuclear weapons,” backing up this accusation by claiming that “all U.S. intelligence experts agree” with such an assessment. He also alleged that “Iraq is developing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) capable of delivering chemical and biological warfare agents, which could threaten Iraq’s neighbors as well as American forces in the Persian Gulf.” Every single one of these claims, no less than similar claims by President Bush, was false.
